Abstract: "Innerhalb der europäischen Demografie-Debatte gewinnt die gesellschaftliche Beteiligung älterer Menschen an Bedeutung. Erkannt werden die Impulse, die von der Verantwortungsübernahme Älterer für die Weiterentwicklung der Zivilgesellschaft ausgehen. Im Kern geht es darum, die Potenziale und Ressourcen älterer Menschen zu nutzen, sie zu bestärken und an ihrem Erfahrungswissen zu partizipieren. Die gesellschaftliche Beteiligung älterer Menschen ist daher kein abstraktes Phänomen. Sie beginnt mit der Frage 'In welcher Welt will ich leben'? Menschen, die Projekte im Gemeinwesen zur Lösung lokaler Probleme entwickeln, Menschen, die sich für ihre unmittelbare Umgebung stark machen, Menschen, die z.B. in Seniorenvertretungen die Interessen der älteren Generationen nach vorne bringen – sie alle haben etwas gemeinsam: Sie bringen sich aktiv ein mit dem, was sie können, was sie wissen.
