Kurzfassung: Cytologic samples from transbronchial needle aspiration and bronchial lavage are valid for determining programmed death ligand 1 (PD‐L1) expression. However, cytologic PD‐L1 assessment should be used only when histologic specimens are not available because of difficulties in interpretation and possible underestimation.
