What's new? There may be a simpler chemotherapy option for children with low‐grade glioma. When the tumor cannot be completely removed by surgery, chemotherapy can stave off recurrence. Currently recommended chemotherapy regimens, which include multiple agents, are costly and difficult for patients. In this paper, the authors report on a simplified chemotherapy regiment, carboplatin alone. Analyzing data collected from 18 years’ worth of patients, they show that carboplatin monotherapy worked just as well as conventional multiagent therapies, with similar survival rates but fewer hospital visits and less severe side effects.
