Abstract:
We evaluated the effect of heterogeneity‐based grazing management strategies on vegetation structure, habitat selection, and nest and adult survival of lesser prairie‐chickens in western Kansas, USA, during 2013–2016. Probability of use for nonbreeding lesser prairie‐chickens decreased with increasing forage use values, increased with increasing pasture area, and most nests were located in grazing units with reduced grazing pressure.
