Abstract:
Hierarchically ordered mesoporous metallosilicate MCM‐41 molecular sieves have been synthesized. The redox‐active metals Ti, V, Cr and Mn were incorporated in the framework, as characterized by various spectroscopic techniques. These materials have extraordinary morphologies in terms of their diverse and remarkable shapes and impressive surface patterns, such as centipede‐like, rope, vesicle and gyroidal spheroid, as revealed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images. The spatial relationship between the channel axis and the morphologies of the mesoporous silicates was investigated. The morphology formation of metallosilicates could be affected by the properties of the incorporated transition metal species. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
