Abstract: Characterization of the high abundant hydrogenosomal membrane protein Tv HMP23. The first knockout induced phenotype for Trichomonas vaginalis is reported. The knockout of Tv hmp23 induced a size increase of hydrogenosomes. The knockout is not compensated by the transcriptional up‐regulation of paralogs.
