Abstract:
We quantify nonthermal hydrogen escape from 47 sources, many for the first time, using Monte Carlo model‐derived escape probability profiles Total nonthermal escape from these sources is 27%–39% of the thermal escape flux of 8.7 × 10 7 –1.1 × 10 8 cm −2 s −1 HCO + dissociative recombination is the biggest contributor to photochemical H escape at Mars, and likely at Venus and some exoplanets
