Abstract:
Resveratrol is a dietary polyphenol found in a wide variety of plants and other food products. Here, we investigated whether resveratrol could suppress hepatic fibrogenesis in activated hepatic stellate cells. The results suggest that the antifibrotic mechanism of resveratrol might partially involve NF‐κB translocation, PI3K/Akt phosphorylation, and LXRs stimulation. Considering these results, resveratrol could potentially be developed as a natural agent for preventing hepatic fibrosis by targeting activated HSCs.
