Abstract:
Establecer los valores de referencia hematológicos y biológicos para niños Gambianos. Métodos Se determinaron los valores hematológicos y bioquímicos básicos a partir de muestras de sangre obtenidas de niños sanos en Sukuta, división occidental de Gambia. Se calcularon los percentiles 2.5 y 97.5 para estos índices. Resultados Se determinaron los rangos de referencia para los índices hematológicos y bioquímicos. La hemoglobina, el conteo total de linfocitos y plaquetas disminuía con la edad ( P 〈 0.001), mientras que la mayoría de subpoblaciones leucocitarias – excepto la de monocitos ‐ no variaban con la edad. El potasio y la fosfatasa alcalina caían de forma significativa a mayor edad ( P 〈 0.001; P 〈 0.001), mientras que la urea y la creatinina aumentaban con la edad ( P = 0.002; P 〈 0.001, respectivamente). Conclusión Nuestros valores de referencia hematológicos y bioquímicos para niños sanos en Gambia difieren de los valores determinados en otros emplazamientos, enfatizando la importancia de establecer unos rangos de referencia pediátricos específicos para cada región para asegurar un manejo óptimo de pacientes y evaluar el impacto de las intervenciones en la investigación clínica.
