Abstract:
Emission spectra from PrBa 2 Cu 3 O 7- x and YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7- x plasma during layered growth of PrBa 2 Cu 3 O 7- x /YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7- x high T c superconducting thin films by pulsed laser evaporation are presented here. Intense molecular fluorescence from the PrBCO plasma plume show the marked departure from YBCO spectra, whereas emission from neutral and ionic species such as Cu I, Ba I, Ba II show strong similarities in YBCO and PrBCO plasma, which is evident by similar intensities and linewidths. Plasma transport mechanism and its role in deposition in PLE has been discussed in terms of similarities and differences in PrBCO and YBCO pulsed laser evaporated plasma.
