Abstract:
The defects in γ- irradiated silica glass were investigated using the pulsed ESR technique. By exciting the spin packets both selectively and nonselectively, it was found that spin relaxation was induced mainly by the dipole-dipole interaction between electron spins of the identical species. By analyzing the dipole-dipole interaction between electron spins, the flip-flop phenomenon between them was found to be the main cause of electron spin relaxation.
