Abstract:
We investigated electro-optical effects in a homeotropic-aligned ferroelectric liquid crystal film. Hysteresis was observed in this cell. The width of the hysteresis could be suppressed by appropriate adjustment of external parameters in the experiment and the unwinding electric field could be reduced by rubbing of the substrate. The rewinding electric field could be increased by making the cell thicker.
