Kurzfassung:
Ultrasonic absorption spectra of colloidal solutions of silica sol, polymer latex sol and hematite sol were measured to test the validity of the method of determining particle size using the oscillator cell (OC) model based on the viscous dissipation mechanism. For the solution of the spherical particles, the OC model reproduced the ultrasonic absorption of silica sol. For the polymer latex of PTFE, the experimental results were reproduced by taking into account the internal absorption effect, although for polystyrene the agreement was less satisfactory. In the case of hematite sol, which has anisotropic shape, the OC model could not reproduce ultrasonic spectra.
