Abstract:
Shaping of 16 fs optical pulses using a twisted-nematic (TN) liquid-crystal spatial-light modulator (SLM) was conducted. The properties of TN SLMs were characterized theoretically and experimentally, and the relevant mode extraction method was developed for the SLM mask pattern design using a simulated annealing algorithm. Phase-sensitive pulse shaping using a TN SLM was performed and the shaped waveforms were observed by measuring the interferometric
intensity cross-correlation with unshaped pulses.
