Abstract:
On the basis of electron trajectory calculation in surface conduction electron emitter displays, it is found that an anode current can be generated from the inertial force of electron motion along the electric field line with a small curvature over the fissure of 10 nm scale. Most electrons of the film current flow to the coplanar electrode, while the electrons from the upper surface of the cathode edge initially follow the curved electric field lines; thereafter, they accelerate to deviate from the inner electric field of the fissure and move directly toward the display surface for the anode current.
