Abstract:
We show here that IL-1Ra −/− mice on the BALB/c background spontaneously have degenerative aortic valve stenosis (AS) and inflammation develop. We further suggest that IL-1Ra deficiency in inflammatory cells induces aortic valve inflammation, and that TNF-α participates importantly in the development of AS in IL-1Ra −/− mice.
