Abstract:
image People suffering from post‐traumatic stress disorder at a young age have an increased risk to develop Alzheimer's disease. The actin nucleator Formin 2 and altered transcriptional homeostasis play a key role in this. Loss of FMN2 causes PTSD‐like phenotypes in young mice. Loss of FMN2 leads to accelerated age‐associated memory decline. Age‐associated memory decline in FMN2 mutant mice is linked to aberrant gene expression. HDAC inhibition reinstates memory function in aged FMN2 mutant mice.
