Abstract:
image The SFI1/Centrin complex is crucial for centrosome duplication in yeast. This study demonstrates the evolutionary conservation of this complex at human centrioles, which has a crucial role in maintaining centriole architecture and ciliogenesis. Human SFI1 is a bona fide centriole protein. SFI1 forms an interdependent complex with centrin at the centriolar distal end. The role of the SFI1/Centrin complex in yeast centrosome duplication is not conserved in human. SFI1 depletion impacts centriole architecture integrity. SFI1 depletion impairs CEP164 organization, CP110 removal and ciliogenesis.
