Abstract:
We present X-ray and Raman studies of the conjugated oligomer, hexaphenyl, which forms polycrystalline layers. The Raman studies have been carried out under hydrostatic pressures up to 70 kbar. The relative intensity of the two modes at 1220 cm −1 and 1280 cm −1 shows the influence of planarization under hydrostatic pressure. These results are interpreted within the framework of theoretical calculations and compared with X-ray studies.
