Abstract:
Le 13 janvier 2010, une équipe médicale du Bataillon de Marins-pompiers de Marseille est intégrée au sein d’un
Détachement d’intervention catastrophe santé mis en alerte au profit des victimes du tremblement de terre ayant ravagé Haïti la veille. Ce travail relate l’action médicale menée sur 309 patients pris en charge du 18 au 25 janvier 2010 au sein
de l’hôpital de Diquini à Port-au-Prince. En 9 jours de présence, 87 patients ont bénéficié d’une prise en charge par une équipe chirurgicale et 197 ont été traités par des équipes d’urgentistes. Trente cinq victimes ont du être évacuées dans
d’autres structures de soins. Du fait de l’arrivée décalée de nos équipes, très peu d’urgences vitales ont été vues et les besoins initialement médicaux et chirurgicaux ont en quelques jours évolué vers des besoins plutôt paramédicaux. L’une
des difficultés majeure dans ce type de catastrophe est, du fait de la désorganisation initiale, d’établir des registres de soins fiables. L’une des originalités de notre mission a été d’investir une structure hospitalière déjà existante, d’où la
nécessité de s’adapter aux infrastructures présentes et de travailler en totale collaboration avec les autorités sanitaires locales. Les nombreux enseignements tirés de cette mission doivent être exploités à l’avenir pour d’éventuels nouveaux
départs sur catastrophe.
