Abstract: Geomorphic and geometric conditions of a small, closed drainage system on the glacial drift plain of North Dakota were related to measured properties of the soil along a linear transect. Multiple regression techniques were used to define relationships statistically between soil properties and quantitative morphometric parameters. Landscape position and soil properties were significantly related. The geomorphic processes of erosion and sedimentation were evident in the measured properties of the soil. Textural variations encountered in profiles can be attributed to erosional and sedimentational activity present on the hillslope rather than pedologic activity. The degree with which the geologic processes of erosion and sedimentation affect the soil and their properties depends on landscape position.
