Abstract:
We investigated procedures faculty in the United States use when students miss exams. A 27-item survey asked about methods used in the past, those currently used and faculty satisfaction with each and with general characteristics of make-up procedures. Faculty are satisfied with their current methods of determining eligibility for students to take make-up exams and the make-up procedures they use most often, rating them as fair and equitable. Participants have used a variety of methods, some ethically questionable.
