Kurzfassung:
Hemophilia is a genetic bleeding disorder which leads to numerous complications including arthropathy. Early diagnosis makes it possible to implement early prophylactic treatment and may be a chance to avoid permanent disability. The aim of this study was to discuss all imaging methods helpful in hemophilia diagnostics. The discussion includes indications, contraindications and limitations of each imaging method. Apart from plain radiographs and ultrasound, 3T MRI was discussed closely. It is impossible to predict the severity of hemarthrosis or the complications in hemophilia in children. Marked injuries do not result from each bleeding episode, but no rule may be indicated here. Early radiological assessment of the joint facilitates a clear identification of visible injuries. MRI diagnostics is becoming more accessible, it is thought that such examinations should be performed on a routine basis in patients with hemophilia in order to complement primary prophylaxis.
