Abstract:
Introdução: A síndrome de Langer-Giedion é uma variante da Síndrome Tricorrinofalangiana(tipo II) caracterizada por cabelos esparsos com crescimento lento, malformações craniofaciais (nariz em formato de pêra), alterações ósseas (particularmente exostoses) e déficit cognitivo. Trata-se de herança genética autossômica dominante rara. Apresentação do caso: Um garoto de 11 anos, natural de Goiânia, Goiás, foi encaminhado para avaliação conjunta pelos serviços de Genética Médica e Endocrinologia no Hospital Estadual de Goiás, após o pediatra observar uma combinação de queda de cabelo e baixa estatura. A mãe do paciente também relatou preocupações sobre o desenvolvimento cognitivo atrasado do filho em relação aos seus pares. Discussão: O diagnóstico da síndrome envolve três pilares: exame clínico detalhado (anamnese e exame físico), avaliação radiológica e pesquisa por meio de genética molecular. Isso possibilita respectivamente a suspeição do quadro, a identificação de deformidades ósseas e o reconhecimento da deleção do fator de transcrição TRFS1 e do gene EXT1 no cromossomo 8, anomalia percebida como a causa mor da síndrome. Conclusão: Tendo em vista a sintomatologia ampla e diversa, faz-se necessária a assistência de profissionais das mais diversas áreas dentre os quais se incluem pediatras, ortopedistas, cirurgiões ortopédicos e especialistas no desenvolvimento da fala. O reconhecimento precoce da síndrome permite intervenções clínicas e cirúrgicas (quando necessárias) mais efetivas com intuito de diminuir as limitações e melhorar a qualidade de vida desses pacientes.
