Abstract:
O Criado (The Servant, EUA, 1963), de Joseph Losey é referência, segundo Deleuze, ao cinema imagem-pulsão. Uma violência inata e estática impregna as personagens e precede a ação. Deleuze aponta para esta violência originária que penetra o meio derivado e o esgota em um processo de degradação. Losey utiliza a arte de Escher para construir seu filme. Escher ficou conhecido com criações que apresentavam metamorfoses de formas, texturas, plantas que se entrecruzam, arquiteturas impossíveis, pretos carregados que interagem com brancos intensos. O equilíbrio da imagem e a metamorfose das personagens constituem vínculos elucidativos entre O criado e as gravuras de Escher.
