Abstract:
The article considers the peculiarities of the trend of “return to origins” as a characteristic in the different directions of art, which has been started at the turn of the 19th20th centuries and continues to this day. The work examined in detail the reasons for the conversion of contemporary Altai artists to archaic images of traditional folklore plots in the creation of new works and the distinctive structural and symbolic elements of paintings, containing the orthodox semiotic units of the cultures of the indigenous peoples of Altai.
