Abstract:
Este artículo tiene como objetivo principal analizar el proceso de reunificación del linaje Álvarez de Toledo tras su segmentación a finales del siglo XIV. Para ello estudiamos la evolución de sus tres casas más representativas: Alba, Oropesa y Villafranca. Fijamos nuestra atención, fundamentalmente, en una repetida serie de enlaces con el propósito de profundizar en el desarrollo de alianzas comunes y previas al acuerdo matrimonial que volverá a reunir en el último tercio del siglo XVIII a las tres ramas familiares en el tronco primitivo, una situación que elevará a los Toledo y a sus diversas casas agregadas al frente del grupo aristocrático de su tiempo.
