Abstract:
The roles of wetlands served as pool, sink and source are discussed in mitigating climate change. Climate change is generally accompanied by the change of regional atmospheric temperature and precipitation pattern, and which brings significant impacts on wetlands. In this paper, the impact of climate change on the hydrology of wetlands, areas, structure and function of wetlands, carbon cycle and the roles of wetlands in mitigating climate change are reviewed. The key research fields in the future are presented in the paper: construction of protection and recovery system of wetlands, the prediction of dynamics and impacts of climate change on wetlands, carbon cycle of wetlands, the deep-seated and multifaceted impacts of climate change on wetlands, the time and space characteristics of climate change on wetlands in the long-term and wide-space scales.
