Abstract:
CuAlSe 2 single crystal was grown by chemical transport reaction (CTR) method. The starting material was initially prepared by a melt grown technique in a rotating horizontal furnace using the elements, Cu, Al and Se (99.9999% purity) with the excess selenium of 3 mole% from the stoichiometric quantity. In photoluminescence spectra measured at 80 K, two types of broad emission bands of which the peak energies were 1.77 eV (L-photoluminescence) and 1.93 eV (Hphotoluminescence) are observed, where each of the bands is, respectively excited by the 477 nm line of Ar-ion laser and 337 nm line of N 2 gas laser. From the excitation spectrum and the thermally stimulated current (TSC) spectrum, these emission bands are analyzed as the D-A pair photoluminescences.
