Abstract: A generalised Morse potential with exponential repulsive and attractive components is analysed to derive numerically (i) the second and third order elastic constants, (ii) the pressure derivatives of the second order elastic constants, and (iii) the neighbour‐wise contributions towards (a) the cohesive energy, (b) the interatomic forces, and (c) the second order elastic constants, in body centered metals like zirconium (Zr), tantalum (Ta), and thallium (Tl). The potential is assumed to extend out to the eight neighbour in these metals and thus involve couplings among 112 atoms.
