Pintar los muros reflects on how women in prison paint the gray walls of the Santa Marta Acatitla Prison with their life stories linked to justice in Mexico. The book shows the individual perspective of the internal, educational and legal processes that face the women, as well as the individual conceptions on justice, time, strength and freedom, through murals realized by the prisoners since 2008. The volume is the result of the interdisciplinary project Mujeres en espiral: sistema de justicia, a gender perspective and pedagogies in resistance, developed by academics, domestic criminal law professionals, artists, students, officials and prison inmates committed to transforming the justice system in Mexico. Marisa Belausteguigoitia Rius, a researcher at the UNAM's Programa Universitario de Estudios de Género, said that behind the murals is the life story of a group of women who have discovered their rights
