„Hier war ein Kerl aus Kuskovo.“ – Diese Worte hinterließ ein sowjetischer Soldat im Frühjahr 1945 auf einer Wand des Reichstagsgebäudes, das die Rote Armee während der Schlacht um Berlin eingenommen hatte. Noch heute befinden sich dort hunderte Schriftzüge mit Holzkohle und Kreide. Zum Vorschein kamen sie erst Jahrzehnte später wieder – durch den Umbau des Gebäudes in den Jahren 1995 bis 1999. Karin Felix, Expertin für diese Inschriften und langjährige Mitarbeiterin beim Besucherdienst des Deutschen Bundestages, versammelt in dieser Dokumentation erstmals alle noch vorhandenen Graffitis und lässt Menschen mit besonderem Bezug zu den Schriften zu Wort kommen. Ihr Anliegen ist, das Positive persönlicher Begegnungen zu betonen und den Erinnerungen der ehemaligen Soldaten einen Platz im Geschichtsbewusstsein zu geben.
