Über die eingehende literarische Untersuchung von Ez 40-48 hinaus liefert die Monographie einen Beitrag zur Erhellung der israelitischen Religionssoziologie in nachexilischer Zeit, etwa was die Rolle der Nachkommen der Gola Jojachins oder die kulttheologischen Auseinandersetzungen am Zweiten Tempel betrifft.

The author deals with the origin of Ezekiel 40-48 within the literary genesis of the book of Ezekiel. For the first time these chapters are not viewed in isolation, but rather as a genuine final vision which, together with the various redactions of the book of Ezekiel, continued to grow. In addition to thorough literary study of Ezekiel 40-48, this monograph offers a contribution to the illumination of Israelite sociology of religion in the post-exilic period, for example in regard to the role of the descendants of Jehoiachin's exile or the Second Temple controversies in the theology of the cult.
