The volume contains the contributions on the bicentennial of the beginning of the restoration of Malbork castle. It is to present its changing role as a center of the Teutonic Knights, a residence of Polish kings, a Jesuit school and as a memorial monument. It is considered as medieval Europe's largest castle, but was theatened by demolition soon after 1772. Finally Prussian authorities started ist restauration in 1817. But in 1945 large parts of the castle were destroyed again. Since then, Polish restorers have secured and reconstructed the monument. The crowning achievement was the restoration of the church and ist magnificent statue of St. Mary in 2016.〈/p〉〈p〉 〈/p〉〈p〉 〈/p〉
