Summary: Die Turiner Passion spielte in Hans Memlings OEuvre bisher eine weniger beachtete Rolle. Eine Neuinterpretation im Funktionszusammenhang der Passionsandacht lässt die gemeinhin als rückwärtsgewandt bezeichnete Kompositionsform nun ihre besondere Bedeutung offenbaren. Hans Memlings so genannte Turiner Passion zeigt in einem durchgehenden Bildraum dreiundzwanzig Episoden der Leidensgeschichte Christi. In der Nachfolge Memlings haben sich fünf weitere Tafeln dieses ungewöhnlichen Kompositionstypus' erhalten. Äusserlich verbindet sie der ungeteilte Bildträger von relativ kleinem Format; formal die simultane Darstellungsweise zahlreicher Passionsszenen in einem kontinuierlichen Erzählraum.
