Es ist der vierte Band der Reihe Kinder entdecken die Kunst. Im Text ist das Sachwissen sehr eng mit Gedankenanregungen verknüpft. Diese werden rot markiert und als Fragen dargestellt, welche sich sehr gut an die Kinder weiterleiten lassen. Das Buch ist anhand der vielen fantasieanregenden Bilder und den ausführlichen Beschreibungen und Zusatzinformationen sehr abwechslungsreich gestaltet. Die Sätze sind leicht verständlich aufgeschrieben und ohne Vorwissen nachzuvollziehen. Das Buch regt stark zu inneren Bildern an und liefert Gesprächsstoff.
