Der vorliegende dritte Band des "Handbuches der chemischen Untersuchung der Textilfaserstoffe" behandelt in Fortsetzung des ersten (Qualitative und quantitative Faseranalyse) und des zweiten Bandes (Zusammenstellung aller textilen Faserstoffe und ihre Prüfung) die Faserauf- und -einlagerungen sowie chemisch veränderte Fasern. Es handelt sich hier also einerseits um natürliche Faserbegleitkörper, die beim textilen Veredlungsprozeß eine Rolle spielen, andererseits um neuartige Effekte, die durch Veredlungsmaßnahmen entstehen; letztere werden unter dem Begriff "Sonderausrüstungen" zusammengefaßt. Das hiermit umrissene Gebiet ist in den letzten Dezennien derart angewachsen, daß es sich als unmöglich erwies, die gesamte Materie geschlossen in einem Band darzustellen. Deshalb mußte von der ursprünglich vorgesehenen Einteilung des Gesamtwerkes abgegangen und der Stoff auf mehrere Bände aufgeteilt werden; im vorliegenden Band wird eine Anzahl von Veredlungseffekten - jeweils in sich abgeschlossen - behandelt, im folgenden Band soll alles, was unter "Echt (Hoch-)Veredlung der Zellulosefasertextilien" im weitesten Sinne verstanden wird, zusammengefaßt werden, die restlichen Veredlungseffekte folgen dann in einem weiteren Band. Aus praktischen Gründen wird jeder dieser Teilbande mit einer eigenen Bandnummer bezeichnet; somit wird der ursprüngliche Band III jetzt voraussichtlich auf die Bände III, IV und V aufgeteilt
