The state and civil organizations engaged in the protection of refugees and asylum have for decades played an important role in the intake of asylum seekers. To date, however, they have hardly been subjected to scholarly investigation - nor have their cooperation networks. The contributions in this volume fill these research gaps and show which organizations are active in Greece, Italy, Malta, Spain and Cyprus, how they work, and what they can contribute to the intake and integration of asylum seekers
