Transformations of the Ukrainian East is a collection of essays in which an attempt is made to look at six towns of the east through the prism of identity, urbanistics, and culture, to exchange observations, to reproduce process, and to consider the results of artistic and architectural interventions, as well as to model possible scenarios for the spatial and cultural development of these towns. This book is the result of the work of the multidisciplinary team of the project, Metacity: East, implemented as a part of the city code program of Garage Gang NGO. For eleven months, from December, 2016 to November, 2017, the Metacity: East team conducted a multidisciplinary study in Lysychansk, Bakhumt, Pokrovsk, Severodonetsk, Kostiantynivka, and Dobropillia. The team of Urban Curators did complex urban research, and the reepresentatives of the Congress of cultural Activists coellected data on the state of contemporary culture. Formografia Design Studio created new architecutral forms in collaboration with local activists. The curator, Oleksandr Mykhed, together with the artists, explored the history and identity of the towns and designed relevant art interventions. (Inhalt)
