The journal is a new forum for outstanding qualitative and empirical research results in the field of didactics and educational science. It serves to network common research perspectives and aims to focus attention on interdisciplinary, theoretical, qualitative school and teaching research. The Zeitschrift für interpretative Schul- und Unterrichtsforschung (ZISU) publishes empirical contributions from educational science and didactics and sees itself as a forum for meaningful school and teaching research. It closes a gap in two ways: it creates a platform for innovative research findings in the spectrum of periodicals oriented towards the example of social and educational science, which understand sense, for the first time in the field of schools and teaching. In addition, it provides an impulse for interdisciplinary discourse to the cooperation between educational science and didactics that has hardly existed to date.

As a regular organ, the journal networks research lines in school pedagogy, general didactics and subject didactics. The journal thus links perspectives of meaningful research. It focuses on interdisciplinary research on schools and teaching and provides material for casuistic teacher training. Erziehungswissenschaft und Fachdidaktik Die Zeitschrift ist ein neues Forum für herausragende qualitativ-empirische Forschungsergebnisse aus Fachdidaktik und Erziehungswissenschaft. Sie dient der Vernetzung von gemeinsamen Forschungsperspektiven und will die Aufmerksamkeit auf interdisziplinäre, theoriefähige, qualitative Schul- und Unterrichtsforschung richten. Die Zeitschrift für interpretative Schul- und Unterrichtsforschung (ZISU) veröffentlicht empirische Beiträge aus der Erziehungswissenschaft und Fachdidaktik und versteht sich als Forum der sinnverstehenden Schul- und Unterrichtsforschung.

Sie schließt dabei in doppelter Weise eine Lücke: sie schafft im Spektrum der sich am Beispiel sinnverstehender Sozial- und Bildungswissenschaft orientierenden Periodika erstmals eine auf das Feld Schule und Unterricht ausgerichtete Plattform für innovative Forschungsbefunde. Außerdem gibt sie der bislang kaum vorhandenen Kooperation zwischen Erziehungswissenschaft und Fachdidaktiken einen Impuls zum interdisziplinären Diskurs. Als regelmäßiges Organ vernetzt die Zeitschrift Forschungslinien in der Schulpädagogik, der Allgemeinen Didaktik und den Fachdidaktiken. Die Zeitschrift verbindet damit Perspektiven der sinnverstehenden Forschung. Sie richtet ihre Aufmerksamkeit auf interdisziplinäre Forschung zu Schule und Unterricht und liefert Material für die kasuistische Lehrerbildung
