Bertolt Brecht hat viele unsterbliche Sätze und Verse geliefert: provokante, schnöde, harte und zärtliche. Für die "Brecht-Gala: Ungeheuer oben!" hat das Berliner Ensemble ein Programm zusammengestellt, das Brecht in all seinen Facetten zeigt und feiert. Sänger, Schauspieler, Musiker, Regisseure, Schriftsteller, Brecht-Liebhaber, Politiker, Zeitzeugen und Zeitgenossen erzählen, singen und spielen von Brecht, über Brecht, für Brecht. Mit dabei sind unter anderen Alice und Ellen Kessler mit dem "Anna-Lied" aus den "Sieben Todsünden". Dominique Horwitz hat sich für den "Anstatt dass"-Song entschieden, Walter Schmidinger für die "Ballade von der Freundschaft", Gisela May für die "Ballade von der belebenden Wirkung des Geldes". Für andere Teilnehmer ist die Brecht-Gala ein Anlass, sich mit weniger bekannten Seiten Brechts auseinander zu setzen: Markus Beyer, amtierender WBC-Weltmeister im Supermittelgewicht, liest aus dem "Kinnhaken", einer der Box- und Sportgeschichten Brechts. In Filmausschnitten ist Brecht zudem selbst zu hören und zu sehen - ebenso wie Helene Weigel in ihrer berühmten Rolle als "Mutter Courage". ARD/SWR/RBB Musiktheater [www.3sat.de]
