Der Band enthält zwei Stücke. In der Tragödie "Guerillas" (1970) wird der Versuch eines radikal-demokratischen Staatsstreiches in den USA gestaltet, der an einer Zufälligkeit tragisch scheitert. Der Heldin und ihren Mitstreitern in der Komödie "Lystrate und die NATO" (1973) gelingt es, durch Verweigerung der ehelichen Pflichten die Verwandlung einer griechischen Insel in einen NATO-Stützpunkt zu verhindern. Der militante Moralist Hochhuth attackiert die USA-Finanzoligarchie mit ungewöhnlicher Schärfe und verurteilt die imperialistische Rolle der NATO. Zugleich unterbreitet er moralische Vorschläge zur Änderung dieser Verhältnisse, die weniger überzeugen.
