Content: The task of the church and of Christian welfare services could be to hold the modern concept of worth in theory and practice up to theological criticism. Since all values may be conditioned by different interests, Christian welfare services in paticular must be sensitive to the danger of a tyranny of values, becuase they are responsible for those who are devalued and axcluded in our society. Instead of speaking about "valous" it might be better to speak of "goods" and "aims". The concept of worth must be critically re-examined in the light of the gospel, and its use in the field of ethics limited.
