El punto de arranque teórico y conceptual de este trabajo está basado en la geografía crítica y en la premisa de que las producciones de espacios son procesos sociales intensamente disputados. En el contexto venezolano, ni la modificación del orden espa-cial del poder, ni la expansión del control estatal sobre el uso y la apropiación del terri-torio ocurren de manera casual. Por el contrario, tanto el gobierno de Chávez como el de Maduro colocaron ambos aspectos en el centro de sus reflexiones político-estratégicas. El trabajo constituye una reflexión respecto al alcance de las estrategias territoriales que se desarrollaron durante los gobiernos de Chávez y Maduro y las formas en las que estas reflejan medios para lograr objetivos políticos. AbstractThe theoretical and conceptual starting point of this essay is the assumption that space productions are intensely competitive social processes that reflect the existing and changing power relations. In the Venezuelan context both, the modification of the spatial differentiation of power and domination, and the expansion of state control over spatial usages and appropriations are by no means accidental. Rather, the Chávez as well as the Maduro government moved both aspects in the center of their political and strategic considerations. Looking at the initiated transformation processes the contribution seeks to address the way in which the objectives of the project reflect key priorities to achieve political aims.
