Literary discussions are at the core of the envisionment-building classroom. Students have opportunities to give voice to their ideas, to see where their ideas are going, to listen to each other, to challenge each other to let their ideas grow. Envisionment-building in classrooms are places where students learn to trust one another and to respect one another. They hear each other's ideas, they help each other's ideas move along, but classroom discussions just don't happen, not good ones, they don't happen by chance. Teachers need to plan for them.
