Die Publikation PATRIMONIA liefert wissenschaftlich fundierte Einzelbetrachtungen ausgewählter Erwerbungsförderungen der Kulturstiftung der Länder, die in Zusammenarbeit mit den geförderten Institutionen entstehen. In Paul Klees (1879-1940) 1932 entstandenen Gemälde "Pastor Kohl" vereinen sich Flächenmuster und Bildnis: Der Maler entwarf die Physiognomie eines Geistlichen mit Kragen und Hut in wenigen schwungvollen Linien und knüpfte mit der überzeichneten Porträtdarstellung an die ironischen, karikaturhaften Arbeiten seines Frühwerkes an. Mit Hilfe der Kulturstiftung der Länder, der PIN. Freunde der Pinakothek der Moderne e.V. und der Ernst von Siemens Kunststiftung erwarben die Bayerischen Staatsgemäldesammlungen mit "Pastor Kohl" aus dem Nachlass des Künstlers ein wertvolles Hauptwerk, das heute in der Pinakothek der Moderne München zu sehen ist. Der vorliegende Band widmet sich nun der ausführlichen Kontextualisierung des Werkes in seiner stilistischen sowie thematischen Dimension.
