Um die Wende vom 19. zum 20. Jhdt. erregte die Frage der burischen Siedlungen in Gebieten, die außerhalb der Burenrepubliken lagen, mehrmals das Interesse kolonialer Kreise in Deutschland. Einzelne Burengruppen wollten im südlichen Afrika Siedlerkolonien außerhalb der ihnen durch internationale Verträge zugesicherten Territorien errichten. Der Beitrag skizziert die deutsche Kolonialpolitik in bezug auf die Ansiedlung von Buren in Südwestafrika. Hintergründe des Wechsels der Kolonialherrschaft in Südwestafrika werden kurz dargelegt.
