Moritz Goldstein (1880–1977) lebte als jüdischer Schriftsteller und Journalist bis zur Emigration 1933 in Berlin. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Herausgeber der "Goldenen Klassikerbibliothek" und Feuilletonredakteur der 0Vossischen Zeitung0 war er nicht nur der bekannteste und bedeutendste Gerichtsreporter der Weimarer Republik, sondern auch maßgeblich an der damaligen Debatte über 0Begriff und Programm einer jüdischen Nationalliteratur0 beteiligt. Die erstmals vorliegendesystematische, kommentierte Anthologie der Reportagen und Gerichtsberichte von Goldstein zur Zeit der Weimarer Republik in Berlin ermöglicht tiefe Einblicke in den turbulenten Berliner Alltag und in bedeutende sozialgeschichtliche Debatten aus deutsch-jüdischer Perspektive.

The Jewish author and journalist Moritz Goldstein (1880–1977) lived in Berlin until he emigrated in 1933. As well as editing the Goldene Klassikerbibliothek (Golden Classics Library) and the culture section of the Vossische Zeitung newspaper, he was the highest-profile, most important court reporter of the Weimar Republic. In addition to this, he played a major role in the debate raging at the time concerning the 0concept and programme of Jewish national literature0. This is the first time that a systematic, annotated anthology of Goldstein’s articles and court reports has been published. It provides a deep insight into both turbulent day-to-day life in Berlin during the Weimar Republic and significant social history debates from the viewpoint of a German Jew.
