"When Gža Rh̤eim died, he left a number of manuscripts which were more or less ready for publication. Among these were two essays which he had planned to publish together, one dealing with the psychological meaning of magic, the other with certain aspects of schizophrenic processes. In accordance with the author's wishes, we have retained the original titles for both parts. The present arrangement, revised and edited for publication, is the result of the work of Dr. Warner Muensterberger with the assistance of Dr. S. H. Posinsky.
