Diese "Auflösungsthese" bildet den Ausgangspunkt der Untersuchung, die am Beispiel der Frage "Arbeiterklasse oder Arbeitnehmer?" gleichzeitig das allgemeine Problem behandelt, ob man in der heutigen Zeit noch in soziologisch gehaltvoller Weise von Klassen und Schichten reden kann, innerhalb derer sich soziale Ungleichheit strukturiert.
